Hello

I am a trained pre-accredited psychotherapist (IAHIP). Before that I had a career in the field of adult education.

I have decades of experience working in the field of mental health, helping people make sense of issues that cause them distress.

From personal experience I know the value of psychotherapy throughout the life-span.

From when I first sought out a psychotherapist in my mid-twenties, it has been a resource for me throughout my life. I returned to psychotherapy a number of times since then. Indeed I explored working with therapists using approaches very different to the approach I ultimately trained in.

As I reflect on it now I see that there was a pattern. I stepped into the supportive holding space of psychotherapy, did a 'piece of work' and stepped back out. Psychotherapy was  a resource I allowed myself to benefit from. I experienced it as a gift that shaped my life.

I think my training as a psychotherapist at TPI in Dublin was immensely formative, but I believe the greatest preparation for my work as a psychotherapist came from my experience of being a client and doing work on 'my own process'.

People are often surprised that psychotherapists return periodically to psychotherapy themselves, but this is true. For me the metaphor of ‘the journey’ or ‘The Camino’ is helpful. For some stretches when the terrain turns difficult and the fog is down – walking shoulder to shoulder with a supportive guide is beneficial.

What’s impossible to do alone, is possible with another. Through therapy you can find a healing of your woundedness, new insights into the complex being that is you, new life direction and life purpose.

You too can feel safe, free from suffering and have ease-of-being. You too can thrive.
